Last day at Brighton high was good. I went to my favorite teachers classroom. We did like annotated and read out loud. Then my favorite English teacher wanted me to talk to her class. I said to them that I wanted to be something more than a ball player. But I had fun with my senior project. Time: 7:30am-11:30am 12:00pm-2:15pm

Good day at school today. It was a very nice day and cool to see the kids and teachers dress up in something liter. Today was a normal day again. Helping kids with work and sharing stories. For one the classes, we went outside in yard. I did some errands around the school for teachers. At the end of the day I worked out with another basketball player. It’s cool teaching them what I know and what I’ve learned before proctor. Time: 7:30am-11:30am 12:00pm-2:15pm
Today was a good day. Very nice out at school so we did things outside. As we come almost to the end of senior project, opening up to everyone. Today I helped teachers prepare their lessons. I helped guidance counselors, lunch people move things on. It was just a good day overall. I’m sad my last day is tomorrow 🥺. Time: 7:30am-11:30am 12:00pm-2:15pm
Mykel Derring Kelly Griffin-Brown Senior Project 5/19/19 Weekly Reflection It was a Great third week at Brighton High School. It was very calm week, nothing crazy happened this week, very cool and fun. What I learned this week was the different cultures and diversity that the school has. This week it was about Haiti and the Haitians at school. They had a festival coming up this week, so at the school they had like a week about them. It was cool to be there throughout that week to watch represent who they are and what country they are from. On Friday, it was Haitian flag day so the school faculty members made a bunch of food from their culture and served it to a bunch of kids. Helping with that and seeing that was great and how many kids came and enjoyed the food was great too. I love what i'm doing. It feels so good to help and give back and teach people from my own experiences and letting them know that if they put their mind to it they can achieve anything is good
Another good day at Brighton. Today we did some fun stuff for the seniors that’s going to Graduate. There were a lot of activities that I helped get set up. Helped watch them and pray they won’t do bad things. Overall it was fun. Helped a few kids out giving them shooting drills to do. Time: 7:30am-11:30am 12:00pm-2:15pm
I didn’t blog yesterday, I forgot so i’m writing it now. Yesterday was a good day at Brighton. A lot of things needed to be done and it got done. I went out to gym and helped PE all day. Today was a good day at Brighton once again. My old Spanish teacher teaches history this year and I got to help her with the class. Helped out my old English teacher too. . Me and my coach reminisced about the good old days. Talked about Brighton before and now. Trying to compare the teams from them and to now. Mykel Derring Kelly Griffin-Brown Senior Project 5/12/19 Weekly Reflection It was good second week at Brighton High School. This week was more like relaxing and more chill. Especially with the kids that go there. They’re all rowdy but this week they were relaxing, maybe because of the weather. What I learned this week was basically how to be a Dean at High School like Brighton. A Dean is the faculty who deal with problems at school like kids misbehaving, fighting, etc. They make sure no one is roaming the hallways and help kids throughout the day. It’s a cool job, well it can be sometimes. I love what i’m doing. Being at the school that helped me and put me in the position i’m in today. Helping kids and helping them understand that they can make it. Also helping the basketball players that go there get better at school and basketball, teaching them the ways of being a student athlete and helping them achieve what they want to achieve. Another week at Brighton in the books. Went in today and did what I needed to do. Did the same old same old. Helping students and teachers and basketball kids. I held another workout after school to help kids get better. I also went to the Dorchester YMCA and played with the kids since I am an alum now. Can’t wait for another week. Today was a busy day. I don’t know what was going on but it was very busy. I felt like everyone needed me to do something. I had everyone calling my name today. Even though it was busy it was a breeze. After school I went to the boys and girls club to workout with kids and teach them things too. That was the highlight of a busy day. Great day at school today. There was a lot of kids that showed up that I haven’t seen before. So here comes everyone asking a bunch of questions. One asked me today how has proctor shaped me to be a better person? I love it when I get those types of questions. But i’m yeah a regular day of getting to know kids and help them throughout the final push of school. It was good to help some of the new teachers too and get to know them too. Today was an okay day at Brighton. All I did was my English teach out with her class. Her name is Ms. Baumgarten and she taught me AP english. She still teaches it, so I helped her students. Mykel Derring Kelly Griffin-Brown Senior Project 5/5/19 Weekly Reflection It was a great first week Brighton High School. When I first go there I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to even remember or if my old teachers still worked there or stuff like that. But obviously I thought wrong because a lot of people missed me and know me from either going to school with them or by playing on the basketball team the time we won the state championship. It was just great seeing everyone’s face again you know, well the ones I recognize. What I learned this week was the kids that go there and how the school is now versus when I use to go. They got a lot of new teachers and much more security and don’t have people roaming the hallways no more. Man when I went, felt like there was much more freedom than now but it’s probably much better for the school and the community. I loved what I was doing. I would help out with the zone which was where I did my homework everyday after school, so
Finishing up the week at Brighton High school. It was a good week. What I did today was help the BSA zone out again. Today they asked me about proctor and if I could share any stories in front of people. My public speaking isn’t good but I told them what I could. I still help with a history class here and there. Smooth sailing back at Brighton today. I went there earlier than usual today because I ain’t know what time it was.but today started off regular. I helped the zone out again. Helped with kids and their homework and stuff. I sat in on a history class today. Also workouted with a bunch of kids after school who want to learn from a great shooter. Another awesome day at Brighton. Today was a very easy day. I helped with the BSA zone today. BSA stands for Boston Scholar Athletes. They help students stay on track with school and sports.
